Credentials
Specialized Training
EMDR Trained
Lisa has completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based psychotherapy approach commonly used to help individuals process trauma and other distressing life experiences. EMDR may be incorporated into counseling when clinically appropriate and based on each client's individual needs, history, treatment goals, and readiness. The approach can help clients process distressing experiences and the thoughts, emotions, and responses that may continue to be connected to those experiences.
Enneagram Coach
Lisa has completed specialized training in Enneagram coaching and offers Enneagram-informed opportunities for self-awareness, personal growth, relationship development, and improved communication. She also provides educational Enneagram workshops and customized group training for churches, ministry teams, organizations, leadership teams, professional groups, and other community settings.
Enneagram coaching and educational training are clearly distinguished from clinical psychotherapy.
About Lisa
Welcome to Haven of Hope Counseling. I'm Lisa Hathaway, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and I believe one of the most powerful things we can offer another person is a space where they feel truly seen, heard, and valued.
So many people move through life carrying expectations, responsibilities, painful experiences, difficult relationships, and the pressure to be who others need or expect them to be. Over time, it can become easy to lose sight of your own voice, your own needs, and even your sense of who you are.
At Haven of Hope Counseling, I want you to experience something different. I want counseling to be a place where you do not have to perform, pretend, or have everything figured out. A place where your story can be told honestly and received without judgment. A place where the difficult parts of your story are acknowledged, but are not allowed to define your worth.
I believe every person has inherent worth and value. From a Christian perspective, I believe you were intentionally created by God with dignity, purpose, and a story that matters. You are more than the things that have happened to you, the mistakes you have made, the roles you fulfill, or the expectations others have placed upon you. You deserve the opportunity to discover and embrace who you were created to be.
My counseling style is warm, relational, collaborative, and genuine. I do not believe therapy is about sitting across from someone and telling them how to live their life. Instead, I see counseling as walking alongside you—helping you understand your experiences, recognize patterns, find your voice, develop healthier boundaries, strengthen relationships, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have become lost along the way.
Sometimes healing involves change. Sometimes it involves grieving what cannot be changed. Sometimes it means learning to set boundaries, release expectations, forgive yourself, accept your story, or begin believing that your needs and feelings matter too. Whatever brings you to counseling, you do not have to arrive with the right words or a perfectly defined goal. You can simply come as you are.
My hope is that Haven of Hope Counseling becomes a place where you feel safe enough to be known, supported enough to grow, and encouraged enough to believe that healing and hope are possible.
“You are worthy of being seen. You are worthy of being heard. You are worthy of being valued—not simply for what you do for others, but for who you are.”
For clients who desire it, Christian faith can be thoughtfully integrated into the counseling process. Together, we can explore how faith, identity, grace, purpose, relationships, and emotional healing intersect while honoring your individual experiences, questions, and goals.
Come as you are. Your story matters here.

So many people arrive believing they are too much or not enough. Part of our work is helping you recognize your own worth and value again.
Difficult seasons are less heavy when someone stays with you in them. I'm not here to hurry you through — I'm here to walk with you.
Insight matters, and so do skills. We'll build healthier relationship patterns, boundaries, and coping tools you can actually use.
